Yea women footballers hit the field

AN enthusiastic crowd was treated to a thrilling contest between Yea and Wandin’s Female Football sides, with Wandin emerging victorious, 5.9.39 to 0.7.7 to win over Yea Women’s Football Team in their first ever outing.

With no sense of occasion, Wandin wasted no time in asserting their dominance, scoring 4.7.31 to 0.2.2 in the first half. The Yea girls worked hard but couldn’t break through Wandin’s solid defensive setup, leaving them with only two behinds to show for their efforts.

The second half brought great contests around the ground, and despite their lack of experience, Yea showed moments of promise, halting Wandin’s momentum and threatening to break through on the scoreboard.

Best players for Yea included Bella Philpot, whose strong hands and great ball use stood out, Maddy Sawyer was tireless in the midfield, and Sarah Arbuthnot, who was a standout in….
