THE Victorian Government is giving more Victorian children the best start in life, with five brand-new modular kindergartens set to open across the state next year, including one in Yea, to meet increasing demand in growing communities.

Member for Northern Victoria, Jaclyn Symes announced that the Yea Primary School Kindergarten (interim name) is set to open its doors in term one, 2025.

The five new kindergartens will share in the $13.8 million Victorian Government investment.

Modular kindergartens are constructed off-site in a factory, in sections known as modulars, to take advantage of quicker construction time and reduced disruptions, costs and risks.

To meet urgent demand in Yea, a one room kindergarten, playground and carpark facilities are set to open at Yea Primary School, to provide an extra 33 kindergarten spots for the local community.

This announcement forms part of the Victorian Budget 2019/20’s $283 million in funding for Three Year Old Kindergarten capital funding.

Fifteen hours of Three Year Old Kindergarten is to be provided each week by 2029, and 30 hours of Pre-Prep each week by 2036.

Member for Northern Victoria, Jaclyn Symes said, “We’re delivering more early childhood services right across Victoria, so even more children and families can benefit from quality play-based learning before they start school.
