THE first round of the Goulburn Valley Playing Area Saturday Pennant was completed in the best of conditions. Alexandra Bowling Club’s division four and division six were pleased to host their opposition.

Division four played Dookie and division six played Shepparton Park.

All games are now 21 ends instead of 25 ends.

The division four section has 10 sides, Shepparton Park, Mooroopna, Dookie, Tatura Hilltop, Merrigum, Tallygaroopna, Seymour, East Shepparton and Euroa but will only play 14 rounds and division six has six teams, Shepparton Park, Nagambie, Violet Town, Euroa and Dookie and will also play 14 rounds.

President Greg Gilmore opened the day with a greeting to all bowlers and made special mention of the new Alexandra bowlers. Tim and Saxon Langmead who have joined from Sorrento British Columbia.

Tony and Sandra Murphy, Warren Nelson, Steve Kirby who are all new to pennant bowls.

He wished all clubs good bowling for the season ahead.

Division four had two successful rinks out of the four and were winners overall. The best winning rink for Alexandra was Greg Gilmore (Skip), Larry Scott, Marie Evans and Lauren Gilchrist. They led for the entire game and were 10 shots to zero at the end of the third end.

It was 28 to six at the lunch break and 39 to 10 at end 21. They won 15 out of the 21 ends.

Doug Cooper (Skip), Andy Tobias, Trevor Stewart and Janice Dunston led four to two on end four but Dookie picked up seven shots on end five to lead nine to four.

Alexandra trailed five to 15 on end nine before reducing that to 10 to 15 by end 11. Alexandra was 12 to Dookie 18 at the lunch break. However, it was all Alexandra after that, with…
