Road maintenance FOI hits a pothole

AS outlined in the last edition of 2024, a Freedom of Information (FOI) request was submitted to the Department of Transport and Planning (DTP) on August 15.

It sought to find out the total annual spend on road repairs and maintenance in Murrindindi Shire across each of the past 10 financial (or calendar) years.

After long delays, the response was received on December 30.

The request was denied on the basis of s27(1)(e) of the Freedom of Information Act 1982. Unfortunately, there is no s27(1)(e) of the Freedom of Information Act 1982.

The refusal also stated, “In response to your request, DTP’s Barwon South West Grampians Region conducted a thorough and diligent search and confirmed that the documents requested in the FOI request do not exist.”

They added, “DTP’s Barwon South West Grampians Region has advised that the budgetary information is unable to be broken down to the municipal level. Thus, information requested for Murrindindi Shire does not exist.”
