GLENN Ridge was the host of the quiz show, Sale of the Century, for 11 years and became well known as a media personality in Australia.
Around 30 years ago, he bought a houseboat at Lake Eildon, and greatly enjoyed spending the ensuing years with his family on the lake.
It instilled a love of the area, and for the past 17 years, he’s spent a large part of his time in the Murrindindi Shire, where he currently owns a property with his wife between Buxton and Taggerty.
“It’s a great lifestyle and I love the area,” he said.
The property is famous for its red maples, and was the location for the recent Highball Cars and Coffee event.
Asked about the red trees, he said, “I had no involvement with the creativity of the place, but like everyone else, we love it.”
Glenn grew up in Adelaide, and spent seven years in the public service, working for the engineering department of the Housing Trust.
He was involved in road and drainage design, with the organisation involved in the creation of broad acre housing estates in South Australia.
He worked there until he found that “the public service and I didn’t mix.”
Glenn’s career path took him into radio, a far cry from the public service.
He started work at 3CV in Bendigo in 1979, followed by various roles in radio and regional television in Ballarat.
