THE Grand Ponderosa Training Day on Eildon Pondage was held by the Lake Eildon Rowing Club for the first time in its short history on last Saturday, August 31.

Thirty-four scullers from rowing clubs in Melbourne made the trip with many staying overnight on Friday and some on Saturday night also.

The course was a four kilometre lap of the pondage that finished up in front of the jetty at Lions Rotunda.The weather was fair and there was even a rainbow that came out to greet the scullers.

The 1992 Olympic champion Peter Antonie was in attendance as well as world champion from 1974 Australian Four, Geoff Rees.
