New defibrillators for Eildon

EILDON Community Opportunity Shop Inc has funded and installed two more fully accessible defibrillators in strategic locations within the town.

One is on the front wall of Nanny Jan’s Emporium on Main Street, the other is on the exterior wall of the kitchen in the rotunda at the Lions Leisure Park, overlooking the Pondage.

The latest acquisitions boost to five the number of defibrillators the opportunity shop has purchased for Eildon.
The others are located in the Eildon Community Centre, on the front wall of Eildon Police Station, and at Eildon Pondage Park Run.

The decision to provide the fourth and fifth defibrillators was made unanimously by the Eildon Opportunity Shop’s seven-member committee.

They were meticulously installed late last week by op shop volunteer Steve Bahlen, a retired engineer.
“It was a bit tricky, but we got there,” Steve said with a characteristic broad grin after completing the second installation.

Op shop president Fay Crimeen said the committee had unhesitatingly funded the defibrillators because they saved lives.

“It is crucial that they are located so that the units can be immediately accessed at all times,” she added. “If there is an emergency, and a defibrillator is needed, hopefully to save a heart attack victim’s life, a unit inside…
