LOCAL athlete Levi Campbell has returned home after an action packed time at the Colgate Games held in Hawke Bay on New Zealand’s North Island.

The prestigious event ran from Friday, January 10, through Sunday, January 12, bringing together budding track and field youth stars from across New Zealand as well as other countries.

Levi arrived a few days early with the Development Squad to prepare for the big meet. Training sessions, an impressive opening ceremony, and a traditional Marchpast set the stage for three days of competition.

Day one saw Levi kick off his campaign with the 400m, finishing ninth out of a strong field of 22 athletes.

He then took to the track for the mixed medley relay, running the 800m leg, where his team secured sixth place out of 15 teams.

On the second day, Levi pushed himself to new personal bests in both the 200m, where he placed 12th, and the long jump, finishing 13th.

His efforts and determination were a testament to his hard work and commitment to improving his times.

The final day brought plenty of excitement as Levi competed in the 100m and 800m before rounding out the games with the 4x100m relay.

It was in this event that Levi and his team truly shone, racing to an outstanding silver medal finish, a definite highlight of the experience.

Reflecting on the adventure to New Zealand, Levi shared that meeting new friends and the relay success were among his favorite moments.

When asked what valuable lesson he’d bring back to his club, Levi emphasised…
