IN just over a week’s time, the Alexandra Heritage Machinery Festival will be held at the Alexandra Timber Tramway. The event, which runs from 9am to 3pm on October 5 and 6, will see around 80 exhibitors show off their goods and machinery to the larger community.

Peter Aumann, the vice-president of the Alexandra Timber Tramway, revealed the scope and variety of this year’s event.

“The Heritage Machinery Festival is an event that brings in exhibitors from all over Victoria with old machinery and displays. There will be steam displays, hay baling displays, blacksmithing displays, vintage cars, vintage trucks will be there, and various other community groups,” Peter said.

“We’re bringing together about 80 exhibitors. We have the steam train running throughout the day, taking people for rides, and this year we have a driver experience opportunity. So we have a 1936 Kelly and Lewis diesel locomotive, that, for a $20 fee, you can drive along a small section of track.

It runs on the Saturday and Sunday.

“The stuff that will be there will be vintage engines, some steam, some petrol, some kerosene, some diesel. Some can be up to 120 years old, and they’re all running and on-display. We have exhibitors from clubs all over Victoria.
