THE Alexandra Truck, Ute and Rod Show had another successful weekend this year, with large turnout and a positive atmosphere.

Organiser Andrew Embling gave a brief run-down of the weekend, saying that he thought the crowds were a record for the show and that it had been a big success in all aspects.

“We reckon we’ve had record crowds again, certainly over last year’s figures of 15,000.

We’d say anywhere up to 16, 17 thousand, perhaps. The trucks were in around that 300 mark, might have been down a little bit on last year.

But the crowd was certainly well behaved, no problems, and it was just a real good day.

The weather held off, though we got a little bit of stuff towards the end.

“The raffle did alright, the charity that was chosen this year was the scouts to get them off to the jamboree.

They’ve got a jamboree in Maryborough in January, so we announced $5000 for that. But that figure will most likely grow once we figure out how successfully we went across the weekend.

They’ve done a great job, working with us every weekend, selling our raffle tickets, they worked all day Sunday.

“The auction was a great success, we had some pretty good people bidding there, so that was great. Big crowd. All our shops have done well, our local food venues did well as well. It was a fairly successful day all round for the whole town.
