AFTER months of planning, the inaugural Eildon Pondage parkrun event was held on Saturday March 22.

Seventy-four locals and visitors, aged from under 10 to over 70 years, met at the Ted Lech Drive barbecue area to walk, jog or run through the morning mist.

This included plenty of locals who were completely new to parkrun and only signed up on the day.

parkrun is a free weekly timed event that is organised entirely by volunteers.

Participants can walk, jog, run or volunteer, and spectators are also warmly welcomed. There are around 500 parkruns across Australia, with Eildon Pondage being the newest. Park runs are also held every week in many countries all over the world.

Murrindindi’s very own parkrun will now be happening every Saturday.

Welcome briefing starts at 7.45am. The local team encourages anyone and everyone to come along and see for themselves. You can also contact the team to find out more via…
