MURRINDINDI Shire Council’s first meeting for 2024 was held on Wednesday, February 28, entirely online. Unfortunately, this didn’t go as well as planned, with the recording not streamed live and not made available to the public until mid-afternoon of Friday, March 1.
Following the deferral of the Toolangi Forest Discovery Centre decision, council moved on to discuss the Eildon Pondage Masterplan. The officer recommendation was that council adopt the masterplan.
There are now identified projects with costings, and the masterplan provides an implementation plan. The aim is to have ‘shovel ready’ projects to apply for grants. The full masterplan documents are available on council’s website and followed wide-ranging community and stakeholder consultation.
While council acknowledged there is strong appetite for on water usage by some groups and individuals within the community, on water usage has not been supported by Goulburn Murray Water, one of the relevant managing authorities, and therefore this aspect could not be endorsed by council.
It was found that the masterplan fits with council’s strategies, plans and policies.
