Big effort for ANZAC commemoration

All in attendance at the match observed a moment of silence before the ANZAC game began.

ON Saturday, April 27 the Alexandra Football Netball Club returned to Rebel Park for round three of the Outer East League 2024 Division One season, hosting Powelltown for the ANZAC Round.

A very big thank you as a lot of work was carried out by HG Turf, Valley Seeds, Logos on Grass, Murrindindi Shire and other businesses and volunteers to welcome the RSL members, players, supporters and sponsors, the grounds looked fantastic and worthy of hosting a Grand Final.

Unfortunately, the club was notified late Friday afternoon that Powelltown were unable to field either of their football teams but would be fielding three netball teams.

A hive of activity after the notification resulted in the Alexandra football players attending Rebel Park on Saturday where they joined the netballers, support staff and supporters with the Alexandra RSL members to line up alongside the ANZAC logo painted on the ground for the ANZAC commemoration.

A grade won 75 – 20: Incentive: Belinda Shaw, Corner Hotel / Grant St Grocer – Ellie Hedger;

B grade won 55 – 10: Incentive: Aleesha Kerr, Corner Hotel / Grant St Grocer – Louise Hurrey;

C grade won 33 – 16: Incentive: Lizzie Butcher, Corner Hotel / Grant St Grocer – Kate Broadway;

Thursday’s Rebel Raffles will resume this coming Thursday, the Penstock Pastoral Joker Jackpot worth $400 so come along and buy some tickets at $1 each but you need to be at the Club rooms at……
