THE 55TH Alexandra Easter Art Show opened on Good Friday evening with a good crowd in attendance, food and drinks enjoyed, and great music from Steve Paix to set the mood.

Judge Greg Allen cast his educated eyes over the assembled works and decided the winning works were as follows: Gold Medal, Best in Show, Julian Bruere, ‘Wet Sands, Cornwall UK.’; Section One, Oil or Acrylic, Maxwell Wilks, ‘Breakaway’; Section Two, Work on Paper, Ron Muller, ‘French Homestead’:Section Three, Any medium, price up to $750, John Whitelaw, ‘Alexandra Shadows’; Section Four, Woodwork, Barry Kerr, Rio Rosewood OM Guitar; Section Five, Emerging Artist, Maddysen Nation, ‘Western Saddle’; Section Six, Photography, Vida Pearson, ‘Good Morning’; Section Seven, Peoples Choice Most Popular Artwork, Brad Trembath ‘Dawn Delights’; Section Eight, Junior Artist, secondary or younger, Ben Geldart ‘Short-Tailed Pygmy Monitor, Alice Springs.

The show this year celebrated its 55th year, and with the venue being 55 Grant St, guests were invited to dress in their best 50s attire.

The show was opened by Cr Eric Lording, followed by an address from Jackie Gilbee of Goulburn Valley Suicide Awareness Group, which is a major beneficiary this year.

Sales of art works have been encouraging, 40 sales at time of preparation of this report.

A number of the successful artists were exhibiting for the first time or showing works in a different medium to their previous works.

Visitor numbers to the show were also very healthy…
