Alexandra 18.8 – 116 defeated Yarra Junction 2.4 – 16

ALEXANDRA returned to Rebel Park and hosted Yarra Junction last Saturday for round 17 of the Outer East League 2024 division one season. The reserves welcoming Mitchell McDonald for his first game for several seasons.

The weather was kind, the ground looking amazing and more than capable of hosting a final, signs of spring on the way.

The Rebels kicked three unanswered goals in the first quarter followed by five unanswered goals in the second as Junction was trying hard while undermanned.

Seniors

Alexandra 16.22 – 118 defeated Yarra Junction 4.2 – 26

The seniors needed a win to stay in the hunt to play finals but the Eagles were keen to impress in front of the Ladies Day marquee.

Two goals in it at the first break but the Rebels responded to the coach in the second quarter with six goals from 15 scoring shots.

C grade lost 17 to 32: Incentive: Taylor Dean; Corner Hotel / Grant Street Grocer: Sophie Coward; Alpine Butchery: Karen Cole;

D grade won 37 to 11: Incentive: Maddy Northmore; Corner Hotel / Grant Street Grocer: Emily Van Lierop.

Last Saturday, Kylie Cairns and crew organized the annual Ladies Day event and with 102 in attendance, it was a very entertaining afternoon.
