THE Alexandra Heritage Machinery Festival took place on Saturday, October 5.

There was a variety of old machinery on display, and the steam train was taking people for rides. A decent crowd attended.

Peter Aumann, vice-president of the Alexandra Timber Tramway, spoke about the event.

“The steam train is a 1909 Fowlers steam train. We have a driver experience on a dual-control Kelly and Lewis diesel locomotive. Lots of people have been taking the opportunity to drive a train for real,” Peter said.

“We have a blacksmith that is offering experiences as well, you can go in there and do some blacksmithing. He’s got lots of stuff for sale.
