ANOTHER successful Yea Garden Expo was held on the weekend of Saturday and Sunday, September 21 and 22.

The event was run by the Rotary Club of Yea. President Penny Paxman said that this year’s event followed the format of previous years. There are 60 sites available and 57 of them were sold out, so there were more stalls than ever before.

“We haven’t got very many more sites available now, if everyone keeps booking,” Penny said. She added, “They booked as they were leaving yesterday, booking for next year.”

People attend it from far and wide, including Pakenham and over the New South Wales border. The Benalla Garden Club also attended.

Penny was uncertain about how many people attended the event, but estimated that there were probably about 500 in the time she was there. They’ll have more detail on the numbers in the next week.

While the weather looked pretty dreadful, fortunately there was only some drizzle at the event. Penny said, “It was perfect weather because it wasn’t too hot or too cold. And the gardeners don’t mind it anyway, so it was fine.”

Most of the stallholders did very well in terms of sales, although Penny noted that the type of items they were selling changed. Overall, the stallholders were very happy.
