Housing Support for eastern Alexandra

MURRINDINDI Shire has been announced as one of the successful recipients of the Australian Government’s Housing Support Program and is set to receive $968,000 for their Alexandra East Development Plan.

The funds will go towards the delivery of a development plan and service planning for a general residential zone on the eastern edge of Alexandra.

The grant will cover the bulk of the cost, with the full cost expected to be $1,090,907.

A total of 80 projects across Australia will receive funding under this round, including 73 local government projects and seven under the states and territories.

The funding is to support master planning and development projects to accelerate housing supply and ensure residential growth in local communities is accessible, affordable and sustainable.

The Housing Support Program is one of a range of measures designed to help achieve the national target of building 1.2 million new, well-located homes over the next five years.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said, “The Housing Support Program is an important part of our government’s $32 billion Homes for Australia plan which is building more homes across Australia.
