Yea bank manager has strong community background

THE new manager of the Community Bank Yea and District, Michael Nardella, comes to the job with a wide range of experience in both property and community involvement. The community bank provides Bendigo banking services to the people of the district.

Mr Nardella has real estate experience of over 30 years as the owner and manager of his own real estate business. He sees this as an important factor when discussing home loans and property issues with clients seeking assistance from the bank.

“I enjoy helping people achieve their goals, be it a loan for a new home or discussing a client’s personal investment plan,” Mr Nardella said.

“Many people in some parts of Victoria have no choice but to communicate with their bank via a call centre or online. But here in Yea we have a physical presence and people are able to call in and meet with us to discuss their needs.”

Mr Nardella has grown up and worked in the local community for many years. He is presently chairperson of the Ranges Foundation (formerly Kinglake Ranges Foundation) a position he has held since 2015.

He was also treasurer of the Toolangi Castella Men’s Shed steering committee and was a member of the management committee of the Toolangi Forest Discovery Centre.

As a Landcare member he was part of a bushfire recovery project that involved the successful building of community capacity and resilience. He is also a member of the Toolangi CFA brigade.

Mr Nardella sees the role of the community bank as fundamental to the financial wellbeing and growth of the local community.

“It is easy to think who you bank with may not matter that much. But it does for Bendigo Bank customers, their banking is making a real difference. Every day our customers help change lives, and save lives, simply by banking with us. Bendigo’s community bank network returns millions of dollars annually to fund local community projects,” he said.

“To date some $272 million has been returned to communities and initiatives Australia-wide.”

Chairperson of the Community Bank Yea and District, James Osborne, welcomed Michael Nardella to the role adding that the team at the Yea branch were committed to providing customers with everything they need to achieve their financial goals, while supporting the local community.
