FROM POLICE MEDIA: MAN ARRESTED FOLLOWING FATAL COLLISION IN YARCK

Police have arrested a man following a fatal collision in Yarck today.

Investigators allege that a stolen white Ford Ranger collided with a motorcycle on Maroondah Highway about 4pm.

The rider of the motorcycle, who is yet to be formally identified, died at the scene.

The male driver allegedly dumped the Ford on a nearby street and fled on foot.

Police allege that the Ford was stolen from an address in Euroa earlier in the day.

A man was arrested after police extensively searched the area.

A 42-year-old Seymour man is currently assisting police with enquiries.

An investigation remains ongoing.

Anyone who witnessed the collision, with dashcam footage or information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or www.crimestoppersvic.com.au

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a fatal collision in Yarck today.

Investigators have been told that a stolen white Ford Ranger collided with a motorcycle on Maroondah Highway about 4pm.

The rider of the motorcycle, who is yet to be formally identified, died at the scene.

The male driver of the stolen Ford dumped the vehicle on a nearby street and fled on foot.

Police believe that the Ford was stolen from an address in Euroa earlier in the day.

The exact circumstances surrounding the collision are yet to be determined and investigations remain ongoing.

Collision at Yarck - avoid the area.

The Maroondah Link (Yarck to Cathkin) and Maroondah Highway (Yarck to the re-join near Koriella) are both closed due to a collision.

Emergency services have advised that the roads are likely to be closed for some time, so motorists are advised to find an alternate route.
